BornSimon 4,740
Hello guys! So this was probably discussed before, but I was just listening to Chromatica for the 100th time today alone and it really hit me how Gaga has often played with lyrics, double meanings and sound distortion. In Chromatica she seems to have done it a few times, although I may be looking into it a bit too much. Stupid Love: "I want your stupid love" - "I want just to be loved" Rain On Me: "I'd rather be dry" - "I'd rather be drunk" Replay: "Your monsters torture me" - "Little monsters torture me" I remember when people thought she was saying "You're still good to me if you're a ******* baby" in Bad Kids Which tbh wouldn't be such a reach because I always thought she wanted to use those insults and slurs and instead of demonizing the words her goal was to exorcize them. And obviously we have the classic, beautiful "Po-po-po-poker face/ Po-po-**** her face" And, well, "PENIS!", instead of "VENUS!". So what do we think? Is it intentional? Is this a "The truth is in my red lipstick"-sized mess? Personally I like to think it's all intentional and I find it quite clever. Discuss or feel free to insult me and close the thread. Love. JazzGa 14,325
I thought for sure the lyric was "Before there was Love, there was Silence!" But I was checking out the album booklet and apparently it's "Before there was us, there was silence" I refuse to believe, "us" instead of "love" totally changes the meaning Before there were Gaga and Elton, there was silence? No! "Love" is a way better lyric God created Adam and Eve, but Gọdga collabed with Brian🎺 and Steve🎷
