Gaga Has Lost Her Lyrical Fire

A study has shown that the more basic and generic English lyrics a song has, the more successful the song becomes (like "for", "dancefloor", "more"). That is because in overseas countries where English is not native, the people can understand it easier. The lyrics than become easy and commonly repeated with basic vocabulary (like you can understand all the lyrics after four years of English lessons). Nowadays they are rarely songs with sophisticated lyrics (that require a more advanced level of English) on the charts. Actually, if you write a song in advanced English with rare vocabulary, your chances become lower to become successful, so... the most common words are chosen that everybody has heard endless times.

I think Chromatica has a low level of lyrics (it has a beginner level of lyrics and is less sophisticated because Lady Gaga wants to be successful and high chart position rather than deep ,meaningful lyrics.

Sounds like you just want her to be a different kind of writer altogether? Lol

This is lyrically some of her best stuff because she's breaking down complex issues and still making the lyrics very relatable

Then the signal split in two
The sound created stars like me and you

Turnin' up emotional faders
Keep repeating self-hating phrases
This is biological stasis
My mood's shifting to manic places

Lift me up, give me a start
'Cause I've been flying with some broken arms

Every single day, yeah, I dig a grave
Then I sit inside it, wondering if I'll behave

So in short, no she hasn't lost her lyrical fire. That's a ridiculous thing to say IMO.

I'm seeing what some of you are saying and I sort of agree. Alot of gaga's earlier music had intentional attitude/fire, these songs aren't supposed to have that.

Let’s have some fun this beat is Sapokanikan

This should be a Standard Answer for Chormatica Slander

I think that the lyrics on Chromatica are okay. There are some lines that I actually quite enjoy, replay is fantastic. Overall, when I listen to the songs all I hear is lyrical "spice". I actually quite like some of the narratives she attacks in the songs, but I feel as if the final product isn't as on point as her earlier work.

Daylight Jokers

When I was young, I prayed for lightning
My mother said it would come and find me
I found myself without a prayer
I lost my love and no one cared
When I was young, I prayed for lightning

I heard one sine from above
Then the signal split in two
The sound created stars like me and you
Before there was love, there was silence
I heard one sine
And it healed my heart

I need you to listen to me, please believe me
I'm completely lonely, please don't judge me
When your tears are falling, I'll catch them as they fall
I need you to listen to me, please don't leave me
I'm not perfect yet, but I'll keep trying
When your tears are falling, I'll catch them as they fall

'Cause inside, we are really made the same
In life, waiting's just a stupid game

Lift me up, give me a start
'Cause I've been flying with some broken arms
Lift me up, just a small nudge
And I'll be flying like a thousand doves

Could you pull me out of this alive?
Where's my body? I'm stuck in my mind
I'm tired of screaming at the top of my lungs
Oh my mother, I'm in the hole, I'm falling down

Every single day, yeah, I dig a grave
Then I sit inside it, wondering if I'll behave
It’s a game I play, and I hate to say
You're the worst thing and the best thing that's happened to me

I don't know what to do, you don't know what to say
The scars on my mind are on replay,
The monster inside you is torturing me
The scars on my mind are on replay

I didn't ask for the daylight
'Cause I was born for the night, and it changed my life
I knew the hurt wouldn't be small
You said you'd love me forever, but you don't call

Turnin' up emotional faders
Keep repeating self-hating phrases
I have heard enough of these voices
Almost like I have no choice
This is biological stasis
My mood's shifting to manic places
Wish I laughed and kept the good friendships
Watch life, here I go again

Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes
Save 'em 'til I know I'm gon' drop this
Front I've built around my oasis
Paradise is in my hands
Holdin' on so tight to this status
It's not real, but I'll try to grab it
Keep myself in beautiful places
Paradise is in my hands

We could be lovers, even just tonight
We could be anything you want
We could be jokers, brought to the daylight
We could break all of our stigma
I'll be your enigma

Feelin' something that I can't explain
Think it's a wound I still entertain
I'd do anything to numb the flame
I guess I'm just on fire these days
I can't see straight, I can't see me
There's too much hurt caught in between
Wish I could be what I know I am
This moment's hijacked my plans

You love the paparazzi, love the fame
Even though you know it causes me pain
I feel like I'm in a prison hell
Stick my hands through the steel bars and yell

----

Just cuz she didn't use too much of the thesaurus doesn't mean her lyrics are bad.

These are my fave lyrics from chromatica currently, not only do they have a beautiful meaning, they also sound amazing on the track

Also body's moving like sculpture is easily one of the more explicit references to house music and voguing as dance, that is, dancing by way of posing... Or at least that's how I saw it right away

Also, I take it as the music breathing life into these sculptures and they begin to move like real people. Babylon the song as a whole and its motif is genius.

"I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here."
