I really want to warm up to these lyrics but so far I just can't get into them. Free woman lyrics are pretty simple. She’s saying shes wanting to be a free woman and she’s trying not to fight against that feeling and she wants it That’s literally what she’s saying. The queen of Gagadaily. Venus Rose 5,638
I'm sorry you feel that way. I mean, 911 alone: Turning up emotional faders Keep repeating self-hating phrases I have heard enough of these voices Almost like I have no choice This is biological stasis My mood's shifting to manic places Wish I laughed and kept the good friendships Watch life, here I go again. Those lyrics scream fire to me.
GipJo 2,563
She always has weird lyrical expression, it's hit or miss all the time, and I love her for that. You just pick a miss in Chromatica and compare it to a hit in BTW.
VasilisVas 4,647
“I’m off the deep end watch as i dive in I’ll never meet the ground” - shallow “you look at me and babe I want to catch on fire” - always remember us this way “‘my name isn’t Alice but I’ll keep searching for wonderland” Alice “Feeling something I can’t explain think it’s a wound i still entertain I’d do anything to numb the flame” - fun tonight Turning up emotional faders keep repeating self hating phrases” - 911 “I didn’t ask for a free ride I only asked you to show me a real good time”- rain on me “You’re the one that I’ve been waiting for gotta quit this crying nobody’s gonna heal me - stupid love enough said, or should I continue? One “bad” lyric this is my dance floor I fought for does not mean Gaga lost her lyrical genius status. /thread
djBuffoon 11,640
No, because. "Turnin' up emotional faders Keep repeating self-hating phrases I have heard enough of these voices Almost like I have no choice This is biological stasis My mood's shifting to manic places Wish I laughed and kept the good friendships Watch life, here I go again I can't see me cry Can't see me cry ever again" That's it. That's my entire argument.

Magui 2,600
I don't think she lost her lyrical fire at all. You don't lose your lyrical abilities... You may change the approach or the delivery cause you want to try or do something different. You may prefer her lyrics on other album, cause it's suites your taste better. But that doesn't mean she lost her lyrical fire in any way. She has great lyrics on Chromatica, like she has it on other albums.
Hybrid AT 78
This is lyrically some of her best stuff because she's breaking down complex issues and still making the lyrics very relatable Then the signal split in two The sound created stars like me and you Turnin' up emotional faders Keep repeating self-hating phrases This is biological stasis My mood's shifting to manic places Lift me up, give me a start 'Cause I've been flying with some broken arms Every single day, yeah, I dig a grave Then I sit inside it, wondering if I'll behave So in short, no she hasn't lost her lyrical fire. That's a ridiculous thing to say IMO. But get your hit, controversial thread I guess "I was protected by the monks of Azarath, I was raised by my friends. They are my family, this is my home and you are not welcome here."

Regina George 59,387
I think you're taking some lyrics too literally without actually trying to think about what she wanted to say. For example: 6 minutes ago, LadyGagasGodSon said: Also body's moving like sculpture is easily one of the more explicit references to house music and voguing as dance, that is, dancing by way of posing... Hades 27,980
Way better than Koons balls and pigs and swines. I can relate to Chromatica. The album is praised while ARTPOP is rightfully panned.

I think she says so much in such few words in some of these songs - which in itself is beautiful. "Inside, we are really made the same" "I'd rather be dry but, at least I'm alive" etc. This makes more sense to me now. I'm not considering the audience she's trying to write to. When I think of chromatica as one message in it's entirety, the lyrics come in to focus a bit more. (rather than each song separately) Let’s have some fun this beat is Sapokanikan
