It could be the beat, the melody, the pre-chrous, etc. People are attracted to songs for a number of reasons and a strong chorus isn't going to be a make or break for most of them. The chorus pales in comparison to the prechorus but that's my opinion. It doesn't matter if people like the song for one reason or another, all that matters is if they like the song.
