rumours 45,521
#24: Touch Your Woman (1972) Average Score: 7.36 High Score: 9 @OG Gaga Stan @rumours @KatieJudasGaga4 Low Score: 4 @Lois Griffin Comments: @Lois Griffin ~ “This a pleasant song that describes a very real feeling. Other than that, there's not a lot to it for me. I'm not particularly inclined to listen to it.” Chart Information: US Hot Country Songs Peak: #6 (Spent 14 Weeks on Chart) Canadian RPM Country Tracks Peak: #28 Song Information: Following the Top 5 success of “Coat of Many Colors”, “Touch Your Woman” became Parton’s 4th solo track to reach the Top 10 on the Hot Country Singles chart. While this appears to be a success on paper, it is of note that the track was banned from much of country radio in the USA and Canada due to its “suggestive language”, which in turn hurt sales of the album “Touch Your Woman”. Despite the lead single’s success, the album would stall at #19 on the US Country Albums Chart in 1972, largely due to the radio boycott. It also did not make it onto any album chart in Canada. Regardless, the album and lead single were well-received by both music critics and fans. Other Nominations (N) and Wins (W) Associated With the Touch Your Woman Era: Top Female Vocalist of 1972 (Academy of Country Music Awards) (N) CMT Award for Best Female Vocalist of 1972 (N) Grammy for Best Female Vocal Performance, Female (1973) (N) The Song: Live Performance: Cover:

rumours 45,521
#23: Tennessee Homesick Blues (1984) Average Score: 7.48 High Score: 10 @Davian Low Score: 5 @SamanthaC Comments: @Lois Griffin ~ “I'm a simple person: I hear Dolly yodeling, I smile. But as a New York City native, the first line of the song disqualifies me from applying the feeling of homesickness to my own life like I do with Dolly's other tributes to Tennessee. And lastly, IT'S HARD TO BE A DIAMOND IN A RHINESTONE WORLD.” Chart Information: U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles: #1 (20 Weeks on Chart) Canadian RPM Country Tracks: #1 Song Information: Let me preface this by saying, if you haven’t seen the movie Rhinestone… it’s gonna be one of the weirdest films ever made. Dolly trying to turn Sly Stallone into a country star was a venture that you have to see to believe. Despite the weird ass movie, a few songs from the soundtrack got a fair amount of traction, the biggest being “Tennessee Homesick Blues” released in 1984. After the heavily pop-influenced tracks present on her previous two albums, country radio was very receptive to a song more reminiscent of her earlier country material. Moreover, Parton was involved in another blockbuster film “Steel Magnolias” in the late 1980s (after hits “9 to 5” and “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas”), so we can forget this movie ever happened. Other Nominations (N) and Wins (W) Associated With the “Rhinestone” Era: Academy of Country Music Awards (1984) – Entertainer of the Year (N) American Music Awards (1985) – Favorite Country Song for “Tennessee Homesick Blues” (W) American Music Awards (1985) – Favorite Country Female (N) BMI Country Award (1985) for “Tennessee Homesick Blues” (W) Grammy Award (1985) - Best Country Vocal Performance, Female for “Tennessee Homesick Blues” (N) Inducted into the Hollywood Walk of Fame (1984) The Song: Live Performance: Only First Portion of Video Above Covers:
