The film is set in the mid-22nd century when humans are colonizing Pandora, a lush habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system, in order to mine the mineral unobtainable. The expansion of the mining colony threatens the continued existence of a local tribe of Na'vi – a humanoid species indigenous to Pandora. gagzus 13,646 Posted December 10, 2019 Share Posted December 10, 2019 I didn’t care much for the movie as a whole but the visuals were stellar and ahead of their time. im curious how the other films are gonna turn out because this one is basically inspired by America being invaded and slaughtering indigineous people and assimilation which is a touchy subject nowadays, it will receive backlash if people deem it as racist or whatnot- plus the film was special because of the technology it possessed, but in the age of Avengers and other massive blockbusters, this motion capture technology, realistic CGI and the 3D aspect are all basically bog standard in cinema now.
