Anyone giving her grief about this is foolish. It was a co-headlined duet project released separate from any album. It was bundled with Shawn's after it became a hit. It always felt like more of her next single than his, the Latin style and bilingual lyrics are not a signature of Mendes to be sure. And as for her underperforming singles, that's the public's bad taste. She's been slaying hard and for some reason no one's been watching.

There was a contract for Radar. It had to be released as a single otherwise the producers/writers or sth wouldn't give it to Britney I think.
