not every song that on artist writes is recorded. out of the 100 songs gaga wrote she probably narrowed it down to 50 that she wanted to record, and then kept narrowing it down from there. she definitely didn’t record all 100 songs because that would have taken way too long

It doesn’t take too long to record atleast a demo... especially not with ARTPOP where a good amount of the songs are just instrumentals she bought or given

true but don’t forget the label doesn’t wanna just throw money at producers to **** around recording demos all day. time is money in the music business, actually everything is money đŸ€Ł

Well they didn't spend much with ARTPOP. They had 3 years to do it and it ended up having 3 recycled instumentals from 2 years before.

¿Qué currículum tiene ésta taråntula?

Because out of all those there are only a handful of hit songs. Most of them are probably just fillers or songs that she lost her inspiration for like Princess Die for example.

u can't tell if these tracks are filler or not since most of our faves chose the wrong singles they can also chose the wrong tracklist. However, why rappers can have 18+ songs on their albums and not popstars

From what I learned by listening interviews by many artists/bands and read over the years, album recording are like certain camp. Especially with Gaga, who expressed she enjoyed a fave to face interaction. So you met, you talk , tell your ideas, and any tunes that may come up from that, from Gaga, she probably using her beloved Piano.  Or in Taylor Swift case, as we listened to her recording stuff on some albums bonus tracks, she usually plays guitar.  Then they working in those tracks, how many tracks that can be made, made the demos and see what works.

Sometimes the artists and producer would hit writer's or producer's block too, which can lead them to not pursuing certain song temporarily or permanently.

When all said and done, you still need to present them to the labels executive who have their own ideas on what's good and not good, aka is it commercial enough or not. Which sometimes can lead to track list being revised. Some songs can be dropped, replaced with other ones. There are few stories that artists or bands got their single hit on last minute is exactly because of this. They would record a song after the initial recording session. Just to make something for the first single that usually sounds commercial.

So this is why there are lots of songs recorded on each recording sessions but only handful are picked.
