Lazz Monster

So, with 7 votes, we have to say goodbye to Blaziken and @Anastasios :bradley: Even the fact that it was the only fire type in the whole competition didn't help him :bradley: I guess ppl are not fans of the fire-types in gen 3 :bradley: Maybe it's because  of Hoenn's resident fire-master? :reductive:

Also, Salamence is safe in the next round.

Facts about Salamence:

Origins:

Spoiler

Salamence is based on the archetypal fire-breathing European dragon. It may also be based on a salamander, most likely the Hida salamander or Anderson's salamander; this is backed up by Salamence featuring three prominent finlets on either side of its head, which can be interpreted as external gills. These external gills are typical for many species of amphibians.

Salamence shares its category with Horsea, Dratini, their evolutions, and Goodra. They are all known as the Dragon Pokémon.

Salamence came about as a result of a strong, long-held dream of growing wings. It is said that this powerful desire triggered a sudden mutation in this Pokémon’s cells, causing it to sprout its magnificent wings.

Facts about Blaziken:

Origins:

Spoiler

Blaziken is probably based on a cockfighting chicken, specifically the Japanese Shamo chicken breed known for its mane and upright posture. The feathery legs resemble those of a Cochin chicken. It bears resemblance to Horus and Ra, two anthropomorphic ancient Egyptian deities with hawk heads. Blaziken may also be based on the Basan, a legendary fire-breathing chicken, or possibly the karura. It is somewhat based on the mythical phoenix, as its feathers burn off every few years. It may also draw inspiration from the taimatsu-maru, creatures that resembled raptors or tengu and trailed flames.

Its Fighting type may also draw inspiration from Muay Thai fighters, since Blaziken's official artwork depicts a typical flying knee and Mega Blaziken's stance portrays a check.

Blaziken is the only fully-evolved starter Pokémon in the core series to appear in the anime before its debut generation.

A pre-alpha sketch depicts an unused Pokémon with the traits of both Blaziken and Latias. Likewise, Mega Blaziken's ears appear similar to those in a pre-alpha sketch of Torchic.

Mega Blaziken is the only Mega Evolution officially introduced in Pokémon X and Y that is not native to Kalos.

Banette:

Origins:

Spoiler

Banette seems to be based on the idea of a haunted doll, while its Pokédex backstory of an ordinary doll coming to life is similar to the tsukumogami, an idea rooted in Shinto's animism. Its appearance and habit of sticking itself with pins is also a reference to the popular concept of a voodoo doll.

Mega Banette has the highest base Attack stat of all Ghost-type Pokémon.

Mega Banette is the lightest Mega Evolution at 13.0 kg (28.7 lbs.)

Banette can be seen as a parallel to Dusclops. Both are Generation III Ghost-type Pokémon that evolve from their pre-evolutions at level 37. Both have the same base stat total. Wild Banette are exclusive to Sapphire, while wild Dusclops are exclusive to Ruby.

However, with the introduction of Dusknoir in Generation IV and Mega Banette in Generation VI, the similarities between the two evolutionary lines have become less notable, as Dusknoir has yet to receive a Mega Evolution and Banette cannot evolve.

Despite Banette's zipper needing to stay closed in order to conserve energy, Banette's Pokémon-Amieanimation shows it unzipping and opening its mouth in order to smile or eat.

Swablu:

Origins:

Spoiler

Swablu is based on a bluebird combined with cottonor a cloud. It also shares traits more specifically with the ultramarine lorikeet. Behaviorally, it is similar to the Canada jay in that they are both given to sitting on people's heads.

Swablu may be a combination of swab (referring to its cotton swab-like wings) and blue. Swa may also derive from swallow, a type of bird.

Tyltto may refer to Tyl—also known as Epsilon Draconis—a star in the constellation Draco, the Dragon. It may also be a reference to the play L'Oiseau Bleu (The Blue Bird) by Belgian playwright Maurice Maeterlinck. The story is about two siblings, Mytyl and Tyltyl (ミチル Michiru and チルチル Chiruchiru in the Japanese translation of the play), who are tasked with finding the "blue bird of happiness."

No other Pokémon has the same dual Egg Groupas Swablu and Altaria: Flying and Dragon.
