They need to do something about it. They need to invite real stars, not some random youtubers and so called singers. They need to stop desperately following trends. VMAs now feel like show for kids that was directed by SJW with all that moon person **** (which was called Moon man before SJWs attacked them), etc.... They try too hard every year and it always ends up looking cheap. They need to bring music back to MTV and not reality shows. Ugh. Just hire me MTV!

they actually changed the name to moon person? :air:

the reason ratings keep on dropping is because there are little to no “risks” done anymore in performances and the show itself, everything is played too safe!

artists are too afraid to experiment and cause controversy nowadays, most of the time at least. why watch an awards show if you know that nothing exciting or new is going to happen?

we’ve been in a similar boat as these disney reboot movies the past few years, where we focus on referencing past pop culture events, instead of creating new ones to look back on in the future.

we’re running out of “iconic” 80’s-00’s moments to pay homage to, we need people willing to take risks with performances and fashion like gaga did early in her career. there’s a reason 2009’s vma’s was so good, and it’s because of gaga and other artists willing to be outspoken, even if it meant creating backlash

Everything just feels forced nowadays. Hate him or not, Kanye’s moment with Taylor was great for pop culture. That same year Gaga scared everyone with her performance. And Lil Mama joined Jay Z and Alicia Keys on stage without being asked. Unexpected and real moments. Those were the VMAs.

Yes! IKR? :saladga: Apparently it was offensive to SJWs to call it a man because it can also be a woman.

Yes it is. SJWs dragged them because they called him moonman as if women can’t be on the moon... *eye roll*

I mean... women can be on the moon, but I don't think that's the point of the meaning of the award. It is definitely a reference to Neil Armstrong, who definitely was not a woman.

Who cares, they should've pulled the plug on that show years ago. And as other people have mentioned, people don't really watch cable TV anymore, especially not young people aka the target demographic. And it's a lame show overall.

Nothing to do with stars. Award shows in general are declining. These guys need a new strategy. I wonder which show will be the first to solve it.

Put Beyonce and Gaga and Rihanna and whoever and it wouldn't make a difference. Instead 1.9 it may be 2.0 which is still bad.

The Oscars this year are an exception, not the rule. They had a lightning in a bottle situation that won't be duplicated.
