Creative lead? Lmfao if they had creative lead then Tom Holland wouldn’t be Spider-Man, Disney wanted some other guy to play Spider-Man & Sony put their foot down & hired Tom. Where exactly do you get your info from cause it’s clearly not from a fact based source đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™€ïž it’s also funny that you’re going off your personal opinion on whether Spider-Man was successful in the past vs going off the facts. I think this little debate is over since it ended when you started using your opinion over facts đŸ‘đŸ» Good luck though

Sony was the company that cast Tom Holland, but literally every other creative decision was spearheaded by Marvel. Spider-Man is synonymous at the MCU at this point. What are they going to do now? Tony Stark in Infinity War literally knighted him as an Avenger. If Sony really does think pulling him out of this universe is the best idea, then they might as well recast him and completely switch up and change Spider-Man again (which will definitely not go over well with fans).

The Sam Rami movies were successful, sure, but that was also a different time. You can't necessarily say "They've done it before, so they can do it again!" They tried to do it again a few years later with Andrew Garfield, and we all know how that went...And sure, you can point to Venom and say "It almost made a billion dollars", but it was also a criticial flop. Unless they do something to really boost up the creative side of that movie (which admittedly it looks like they might be doing), then they're just going to move Spider-Man to an MCU-lite universe.

Well I actually do agree with that, but it only makes sense for Spiderman to stay under Marvel Studios.

Idk maybe it's just quite frustrating to see Spiderman go, now that Fantastic Four and X-Men are back 'home'

They were kid friendly, for sure, but the plan was to have him grow up over 9 films. It would have gotten more adult as time went on.

Sony is fine. It was one freaking character. Venom made lots of profit without the MCU.

Sony has done ok with Venom and great with Spiderman because of it's amicable relationship with Marvel. Period.

Watch. Fanboys will boycott and the storyline will go stale like back when Sony was on their own. Disney/Marvel should stop promoting the character in games and toys (Sony only owns the movie rights NOT the actual character since it's Marvel's property).

Spidey's home is the MCU. SONY's greed is showing.

Edit: A feud between Marvel and Sony didnt exist back when it was successful. And neither did the MCU exist. I bet Sony can't pull it off.

^ this. Also while Venom did well in its opening weeks/at the box office, it's not even highly regarded among comic fans, and most people didn't actually love the movie anyways, it just got a lot of box office appeal.

Not surprising whatsoever

They're going to lose in this situation no matter what.

Even if they keep Tom Holland as spiderman, everyone will hear about the split from the mcu, so I doubt a movie they'd put out afterwards would be as successful even with Tom and a decent script.  Possibly still somewhat successful, but nowhere near as successful as the two movies Marvel has done.

If they decide to drop Tom and find a new actor instead, that would mean it's the third reboot within like 10 years or so.  Besides Tom being very loved, that many reboots so quickly is so boring; no one wants to sit through his origin story again.  There's already a bunch of memes about this.

Has Disney brainwashed you? Sony is the victim here, while Disney is becoming more and more greedy.

Sony gave to Disney all the merchandise, the rights to use the character in their parks, Sony cant use him in their own movies like Venom and their own Spiderman movies have to fit the Disney schedule and now Disney wants more of their profit. Why would Sony gave in also with this?

exactly, not to mention Sony ONLY makes money off the SPECIFICALLY branded Spider-Man movies (so Homecoming and Far From Home), they made no money off Civil War, Infinity War or Endgame

Spider-Man is a Marvel character to begin with so Disney has all the rights to be greedy about it, it's their child that is held hostage by Sony.

Sony can still profit from the Spider-Verse movie, Spider-Man cartoons and the Spider-Man game for PS4 which is exclusive to PS4, they have many ways to get profit, they're not gonna go bankrupt by going 50/50 with a character that Disney is supposed to own in the first place.

If they cared about the fans or about the character, they would sell it back to Disney long time ago..

Disney only "has" Spider-Man because they purchased Marvel, Marvel is not a Disney brand from conception or even 15 years, they bought it in 2009 after Iron Man had already been a success (which I'm sure is fueled by the already successful Spider-Man series). Sony had Spider-Man long before Disney was even involved with Marvel.
