I think those in ARTPOP era are also bit cheap and not much volume ....

im guessing it's on purpose to look fake or look like her ARTPOP sculpture?

She literally looks like a wax figure    A few points though:

1. That wig only looks so cheap because of the lighting in that photo.

2. She has very often worn cheap looking wigs over the years, you just probably haven't seen them (and I'm sure everyone is gonna start linking their least favourites in this thread now lol)

These wigs just need a quick wash with fabric softener and they'd be good to go lol

I'm pretty sure this wig wasn't supposed to be realistic silver hair, it's supposed to be shiny/metallic/surreal. That's why she filled it with glitter lol.

Some of these are conscious cosmetic decisions. 

I think we have a tendency to judge a wig  by how realistic it looks - despite that not always being the intention. 

The Sting wig for example is obviously meant to look prosthetic, as are a lot of the ARTPOP styles. 

And considering The Fame era was a lot about materialism (in a backwards way, I guess), I think some of the wigs were meant to look quite pastiche. She was essentially parodying 2000s icons like Paris Hilton for a lot of this era.
