Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Far From Home has swung past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first installment in the franchise to do so, not adjusted for inflation. Further, it's only the second Sony movie to become a member of the billion-dollar club behind 2012 James Bond entry Skyfall ($1.1 billion), made in partnership with MGM. Sony have yet to enter 1 Billion Club on their own effort. The summer tentpole accomplished the feat Thursday. Its domestic tally through the day is a projected $333 million, while it has grossed $672 million overseas for a total $1.005 billion. Far From Home is the 40th movie to cross $1 billion and the third release of 2019 to do so far behind Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion) and Captain Marvel ($1.13 billion), both from Disney and Marvel. Probably beyond trilogy too. Like Thor, it got its 4th movies after all. Especially with Fantastic 4 and X-Men coming. JohnWayne92 2,082 Posted July 26, 2019 Share Posted July 26, 2019 I dont think Sony is dumb enough NOT to keep with Disney and Marvel. Venom did alright, but wasnt able to go very far. With Disney/Marvel you get the momentum of the entire cinematic universe helping your film. Now, more than ever, fans know how important it is to see EVERY movie that's cannon in that uni(mulit)verse. With the bigger picture being a total of 9 Spider-Man films, I think the only way to achieve that longevity is to keep in grounded in the MCU. I'm sure Sony knows this.
