Ah well hope the rest of The Gift is better. I honestly don't see this song as any competition for Best Song at the Oscar. I guess we'll see what other songs crop as the year goes by. River 90,357 Posted July 10, 2019 Share Posted July 10, 2019 It's a beautiful African ballad, I just love when black artists do African music, it's so unique and makes you feel free and I would say very spiritual, I hope more artist will bring the African tribal music to the mainstream. But, it's not a Lion King song, but feels more like it was only inspired by Lion King, the touch of Elton and Tim Rice is really absent here. Well, honestly, I think it would fit the musical more than the movie.. just like Speechless from Aladdin. Shallow is interesting regardless of speed. Edit: The Beyhive is way too quick to say RACISM.
