Let me just say that as someone who’s still in high school, this is true. I love Billie to ****ing pieces, and this album blew me tf away, but I always want Lorde’s sound (although very similar to Billie’s) to be the future of pop. 

Kids at my school, no matter gender, sexual orientation, race, etc. are all OBSESSED with Billie. She’s the only one we all agree on. She’s the future, because my generation is gonna make her style of music the future. 

Billie and Ariana represent the music of my senior year, and for kids younger than me, probabaly the rest of their high school experience. 

For a lot of you guys, the way you used to listen to Gaga and Rihanna represents how we now listen to these artists. 

Gaga for a lot of y’all represent High School and college, but for me she’s the singer of my childhood (and life cause clearly I wouldn’t be here if that weren’t the case), but the artists of my high school life are so completely different.

That’s what makes this music the future.

Just like her album title. I fall asleep listening to her album enter dream state.  I just don't get the hype of her music. Not my cup of tea I guess.

Thinking about it, yes that might be true. But it’s annoying how they run to Gaga to defend their fave. It’s just my personal observation though.

When I was in high school everyone loved Gaga. I can relate to this feeling.

Maybe it's because I'm not within her age range, but I'm not sure I really get her music yet? In the context of her lyricism. Not super keen on her singing or music style, but I guess that's just taste. I'll give her another shot, sometime soon.

we're talking about 'the future of pop', not the queen of sales or marketing. lorde is here and is trailblazing together with charli xcx. billie eilish wouldn't even exist without lorde - one who has done it so much better than all the other artists who have tried and/or are trying to copy her style in instrumentation and ESPECIALLY vocals. plus lorde can do dark and depth without having to rely on imagery and dark production.

billie is essentially lorde for angsty sheltered kids and people who can't consume subtlety
