According to Nielsen Music, A Star Is Born has now sold 1,002,611 copies in the U.S. alone, making it the rare recent release that is able to actually sell over a million copies. Many titles are able to shift at least a million units, and sometimes several million, when including streams, but as sales drop every year, even some of the biggest figures have a difficult time making it to seven digits. Amazingly, A Star Is Born has been able to sell over one million copies in under half a year, which shows how incredibly well it has performed week after week. The title has spent four frames at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and in the months since it first dropped, it hasn’t fallen far from the peak position. Just as it looked like the tunes penned specifically for the film might begin to finally drift away, Gaga and Cooper began to win awards for their work, which breathed new life into the entire collection. It’s likely that A Star Is Born will hold on for weeks, if not months, selling well every frame. How much longer will it live inside the top 10?
