She definitely had this same quality about her at the Superbowl during the Born This Way / Telephone / Just Dance act, too. She danced for blood during Telephone in particular. 

And, at JWT, she also was on fire for some of the Applause performances. Citi Field springs to mind.

there's this one performance of judas where she puts down the mic and it's the best dancing i've seen her do. It's at a festival, not the iHeart or BBC one, though. I completely forget what it is

Man, what happened to Mark? He used to be so manly, so brooding. Now I look at his Instagram and he’s still as handsome as ever but he’s taken on a much goofier pose. I’m guessing it’s just growing self-confidence? Also Gaga was clearly attracted to him.

She used to use head mic during that era  I don't remember any Judas perf with an handheld mic

The Ellen performance was with a handheld mic. And it was a really good one tbh.

Although from what you describe, I think it's the Jingle Ball (2:45), or Jimmy Kimmel (2:17) where she actually puts her mic down on the floor, and she indeed kills the choreo.
