Bradley 54,929
If you've been watching the interviews Bradley and Gaga gave about A Star Is Born, you must have noticed how they said they wanted to shoot the movie from the stage, as opposed to from the audience. And Gaga said she loved this choice Bradley made. Bradley said about watching the sweats of Lars Ulrich playing on stage, etc. So I noticed this about the Grammy performance, did they recreate the Shallow scene at the Grammys by trying to record the performance in the same way? During the 'AHHHH' part, and towards the final 'in the shaa ha shaa low' final chorus, they stopped shooting from the audience and focused on surrounding and circling around Gaga, and I think this is kinda underrated since no one's really talking about it. So instead of watching it as an audience, you get to feel like you're walking around Gaga.

Didymus 32,703
I think it was just about finding the most visually stimulating way to capture the performance, the set-up of which allowed for the camera operators to circle around the performers. I don't think there's a specific connection to the movie though but could be.
Archie 2,818
that was one of my first thoughts about this performance as i watched it. this and the lights. i've noticed they used the same colors as in that scene: blue and red. i think it's pretty cool that they did it as it gives the performance more meaning and is the cool easter egg for those who watched the movie and are looking for this kind of stuff I lost five kilos 'cause of heartache Now I'm skinny
PunkTheFunk 121,499
It was shot beautifully. Probably one of the best shot live music performances I've seen.
Bad Kids 3,008
it also reminds me of the Just Dance sequence in Superbowl! The way she turns and sings. And when you say my name, like white horses on the waves, I think it feels the same, as an ocean in my veins.
Panchecco 17,140
I thought it could have been done better tbh I appreciated the shaky camera for the concert scebìnes in ASIB but here not so much
Glamourpuss 29,062
I was one of the ones who didn't like the performance but now you've pointed this out it makes me able to appreciate it alot more.
BenG 19,908
Highly doubt it was intentional. The camera work is by the Grammy producers.

I'm sure Gaga interacts with the cinematographers before a performance tho. She'd need to know where to look.
mamo 15,678
I 100% agree with what you said. To me it was obvious they were trying to capture the vibe of the film in particular the shallow sequence. The red and blue lighting was symbolic and the way they shot the performance reminded me of how they shot the film. I'm actually surprised not a lot of people/fans picked up on this? I loved it! you can serve it to me ancient city style...
Monsterish 5,520
Oscars are definitely recreating the movie scene Maybe Gaga will be already in the stage with the piano and Bradley with the guitar

Quoting myself because I thought it worth mentioning I just rewatched the performance and I'm still not keen on the first couple of verses but the rest of it really grew on me. I can appreciate it alot more. However I still think it's not the best Gaga performance. I think it's just too low for me. I really like the way they filmed it. It reminded me of the film cinematography as well.
