WOHOO!

Lady Gaga has just earned her second Top 10 hit on Adult Contemporary radio. "Shallow" rises to #10 on the chart this week.

"Shallow" follows "The Edge of Glory", which peaked at #7 on the chart back in November of 2011.

The real soccer moms are loving this song.

Adult Contemporary peaks:

The Edge of Glory: #7 (peak date: November 2011)

Shallow: #10 (peak date so far: January 2019)

Alejandro: #13 (peak date: September 2010)

Million Reasons: #14 (peak date: May 2017)

Paparazzi: #15 (peak date: March 2010)

You and I: #15 (peak date: January 2012)

Til It Happens To You: #19 (peak date: March 2016)

Bad Romance: #20 (peak date: May 2010)

Born This Way: #22 (peak date: June 2011)

Telephone: #23 (peak date: May 2010)

Applause: #24 (peak date: November 2013)

Perfect Illusion: #25 (peak date: October 2016)

Just Dance: #28 (peak date: May 2009)

The Cure: #28 (peak date: July 2017)

Songs that did not appear here did not chart

As artists age, they become more likely to appear on this chart, because their audience is aging as well.

But honestly, if radio in 10 years is full of the bops we had during 2008-2015, I'm not mad :lana:

I'm shocked MR didn't chart higher on this chart. Yay for "Shallow" though. That performance of her and Bradley in Vegas is viral as hell. Everyone in my real life is talking about it and asking if I have seen it. :awkney: People just really love the song. I'm happy for Gaga, and I honestly did not expect this song to do as well as it has and still is. I love it so much, but it definitely has a unique and different structure than a typical "hit"...

AC is basically Pop music for people over 30 lol

You're thinking of HAC, where Shallow has already hit #6. HAC is the "adult pop" format.

HAC and AC are two different things, although the names being so similar is confusing/annoying.

Wait, I always assumed it was the same thing, just different wording. What's the difference? :duck:

HAC is mainly pop music, but more adult-oriented pop than the top 40 format.

AC is adult oriented music but it can be a wider range of genres, but still often includes pop.  AC is a smaller format than HAC as far as audience numbers.
