I have been wondering this because I am in the process of making a different scenario for an album cycle.

This is a very silly question tbh, there is no right answer :poot:

it depends on the song, the artist's popularity, what's trending, etc.

I am mainly referring to albums and songs that debuted on the BB100, like BTW (Both the song and album.).

BTW (both the song and album) debuted at #1 on their charts respectively.

I know, but I just noticed that it took them two chart weeks to debut instead of one. I am just trying to figure out how it works to get a better understanding of charts.

Basically, there's three types of data that contribute to the billboard chart:

1. Sales (iTunes, Amazon, etc)
2. Streaming (Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, etc)
3. Radio Play (goes by AI, or audience impressions)

Sales and streaming tracking runs from Fridays to Thursdays, and radio runs from Monday to Sunday. With Billboard charts being released the following week.

Basically, most artists now release new music on Fridays, because that's the first day of sales & streaming tracking (where the majority of billboard points come from), so they get a full week of points. However, new songs from popular artists usually have a radio deal in place, so they get a lot of radio points for the last three days of tracking on that format (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)

So basically, a song from an A-list artist could have a quick debut in the 70-100 region of the chart from a few days of radio, then shoot up to the top 10, or even number the following full week (after sales and streaming data has been collected)

bloody g

Every thursday night there's a cut, and the chart is done according to all song's performances during the last 7 day cycle. That's why most songs are released on Friday, to have as much time as possible to have a high peak.
