The thing is, I don't think the GP ever actually got as fed up with Gaga as the narrative around her suggests. Obviously ARTPOP was not a massive success story, and she did lose some traction, but if she'd come back a couple of years down the line with an on-trend, irrefutable pop song everyone would have eaten it up. It was the media who'd prematurely decided she was finished and no one had an interest in her anymore. Every time she's had a platform the GP has proved that it's still here for her, even during the Joanne era; the problem is she has often been denied the platform she needed to get her stuff out there by a music industry who thought one under performing album spelt the end of her career.

I'm sure the success of ASIB means that will change now.

It’s weird that Shallow, a very Americana Roots oriented song, is more popular worldwide than in the US.  But that style doesn’t get played on American pop radio.

no, we are not. let's be realistic. she made a movie that's successful, that's all. i don't want to be a negative nancy, but come on. you are only setting yourselves up for a disappointment when singles from LG6 fail to deliver chart success.

She isn't called just "Lady" though. There's always a part of Gaga everywhere, as there's always a part of Lady as well.

The truth is... she never went away. Particularly if we attribute 'newsworthiness' to relevance.

Okay, some eras (ARTPOP) were not well-received - but she was everywhere. If you're being talked about - good or bad - you're relevant. And boy, was she being talked about. She may not have been acclaimed at that time, but that doesn't mean she had lost her place in pop-culture... that never happened.

Even throughout Cheek to Cheek and Joanne, Gaga was a house-hold name. She won a Grammy for the album, man! And remember, Joanne gave us the SBHTS - the beginning of all of this perceived 'comeback'. We owe a lot to that era. We also owe a lot to The Academy, too, for giving Gaga the spotlight to show her talent in the Sound of Music tribute, but that's for another discussion.

In the ASIB era, Gaga is simply back to a more acclaimed position in the industry. But she never went away - we had a similar 'peak' just after the Superbowl, too.

I guess my point is... Gaga will never go away. Every album of hers could literally tank over the next decade, and this woman is still going to be at the top. She has become more than her output, which I imagine is quite frustrating for her at times... but ultimately, it's what has made her possibly the fastest, contemporary artist to become a 'legend' at such a young age.

Lady Gaga is one of the most famous, most talked-about musicians to ever live. And that will never change - no one can take that away from her. She made it.

She made a soundtrack that's so good it would've been successful anyways. Obviously not so much if the film hadn't been praised, but I think the album would have still sold a lot

I think what ASIB proves is that the *actual* GP that can appreciate Gaga is much larger and more diverse than what pop fans usually consider as the “GP”

With the GP it’s about time and not what’s commercial tbh. If she puts out an experimental/risky album this year it will likely be successful, but if she waits a year or two to put out something commercial the GP probably won’t care honestly.

THISSS OMG. This is why I want LG6 bc she needs to build of the momentum from ASIB and awards season, if she waits too long, then the gp won’t five a crap anymore. This is her time. She needs to release SOMETHING. Anything at this point like C3C or an EP would be good to feed off the ASIB hype. It would be such a waste if she released the album like in 2020 because by then no one would care.

✨oh the lights dim while we’re dancing yeah the floor is shaking in this disco heaven✨

Yes. Honestly even a buzz single would be good, as long as she promotes it well it would do great.

I think “The Cure” is evidence that she still has the public in her hands when it comes to pop music. The single peaked at #39.

With a proper music video, it’s streams, and proper promo/support i.e. radio she would have easily been able to nap a Top 10 hit.

I mean the song went platinum with no video/radio support so..

Beyond that, the general public is starting to miss CrazyGa so the moment she makes a comeback they’re going to eat it up.

I think now for Gaga it’s just about finding the balance between when to throw out CrazyGa and when to throw out ElegantGa.

Which she’s pretty much mastering

I mean, it's sorta hard to deny this is a comeback. She wrote the majority of the soundtrack, and provides vocals on the most popular songs from the soundtrack. Do I think this will result in LG6 being a mega-smash? Nope. But equally, it doesn't need to be considering she has started to establish herself in a new field.

Also for all the talk about Gaga flopping since 2013, nobody apart from Adele, Taylor and Beyoncé have been able to move more albums than her.
