the first time I heard it I thought it sounded way too much like a Madonna song (mixed with Ace of Base) and I still think that.  Probably my least favorite of her singles but to each his own. :)

Are we really gonna forget about her best toned down and raw ballad jewels n drugs? :messga::bye:

THE heartfelt ballad of our times. Cures recessions. Stimulates the economy.

It's definitely up there with her best songs

Speechless, Bad Romance, INLA and such :woot:

I think the same tbh, the song has an amazing intro, catchy verses and an earworm chorus, the industrial latin infused production is otherwordly and is the ONLY song from TFM that hasn't aged a bit + the metaphors are great.

This is clearly a very well thought out opinion, Alejandro is ONE of her best songs, easily in my top ten. My personal favorites are Angel Down and Gypsy, but if we’re talking about the old-school classic hits, Paparazzi and Alejandro are my top two.

It’s not even her best from The Fame Monster but go off.

Speechless and Dance in the Dark are the only two you can argue that are on Alejandro's level. The rest are super close though that album had no flaws

Listen!!! Although I tagged this as "opinion" it's simply NOT an opinion; this is a cold HARD fact.

- The choreo? Spectacular. It's beautiful and romantic.
- The video? Added a whole new visual DIMENSION to the song
- The PRODUCTION? her best. Those growling synths and repetitive chorus is a total earworm.
- The lyrics/meaning? also her best. I love how it's a big unapologetic goodbye to all of your past lovers ("Alejandro - Fernando - Roberto").
- and helloooooooo the mf violin .. -->  how it over-dramatizes the song like ohhh woe is me :'( "I know that we are young and i know that you may love me... but i just cant be with you like this anymore... alejandro" like that **** HITS.

Not to mention that the song itself has aged like FINE WINE. Bad Romance did not have that affect.

Conclusion: the legend really jumped out here. I seriously don't know a better song. Like I generally dislike the direction Gaga's career is in right now but this song is her one (1) redeeming factor as an artist.

It should also be noted that her more recent live vocals of it make the song and its performances even better.

When people say, "ya' she wore a cowboy hat to perform a country song, what did you expect?" or "ya' she wore a beautiful gown to an award show, what did you expect?" I always think about Alejandro.

It's a song with obvious Latin influences, yet she paired it with a cold, bleak, snowy, video inspired by Catholic and military imagery, a music video..full of ghostly pale skin, a latex habit, and men in fishnets. It was unexpected.

What she did, at the time, was turn things on their head. I love Alejandro. :)
