how does it qualify for this chart if it's not a dance song lol slay anyway

you guys haaaave to understand this chart is about REMIXES and not the original songs. Shallow has a ton of remixes which are played over and over in clubs so that’s why it’s 1

(same happened to TIHTY)

its panel is comprised of select DJs sending to Billboard the songs they're playing the most for the week at Clubs. I've been to a club that played a Shallow remix. I wonder if it reports to Billboard.

I heard a club mix of Shallow at the club a few weeks ago and the whole club went crazy

:sharon:  I've never understood the (gay) clubs remixing songs that have some heavy introspection to them like Adele's Someone Like You, Gaga's TIHTY and now Shallow.  Let's just keep it vapid or a parody of itself per the gay community's usual standards.

I tease!! -- to an extent.  Just weird how the LGBTQ community consumes media, criticizes its divas and outsiders or claims diversity/inclusion but behaves in an ostracizing manner.

I’d say this is surprising since the song is slow, but considering Till It Happens to You, the anti-rape anthem hit number 1 on the dance charts, nothing surprises me anymore :messga:

Thank you for asking!  And I am sorry -- didn't mean to hijack this pleasant thread for too deep a convo.

I just have a hard time when the community wastes its unique opportunity as queer outsiders that could radicalize society but instead assimilates to the norm and divides one another based on assumptions such as wanting marriage or neo-liberal politics or binaries such as "masc/fem" & "top/bottom."    I mean, there's a lot of hyper-sexualization, racism, internalized homophobia and misogyny within it, too.

We need some more anarchist, socialist, green LGBTQ representation.

On topic and on a personal level, I've never understood going to the club and hearing a  ballad get remixed among poppers and coke, people on Grindr and cheap vodka when the song once brought emotional impact to me outside of bars.  Just a weird, unsettling juxtaposition, I suppose.  Leave it to the gay bars to play or remix a song about sexual assault -- TIHTY.  (Yes I generalize but these are not uncommon circumstances one may find at a 4am bar in a big city gay bar).

Thanks for hearing me out, fellow Monster! Have a good evening/day -- wherever you are :)

Shallow is gonna go down as one of those club bangers that gets everyone on the floor, like electric slide or Macarena.
