A person can work just as hard to create a lighthearted pop song or a song that sounds "cringy" to some people but that doesn't make them any less hardworking than those who write deeper songs. What matters is the quality of the work and the dedication of the people behind it.

First Ally is not Lady Gaga.

WDYDT is not right for Ally for the person she is in the movie, which is not Lady Gaga but a regular girl. Lady Gaga can sing everything but she probably wouldn't do in the Ally basic way ( hair, dress etc) so the impact of Gaga singin' it would be different.

And second don't compare The Fame when she was 22 with now, I think at 32 if you talk about ass this should be better done than in WDYDT. The song is good I just don't  like these few lines.

Of course, she's not gonna say that her own songs are bad. No serious artists would purposely write and publish bad music. But obviously, the songs are shallow and meant to represent Ally's loss of artistic integrity by her focussing on generic/fun/shallow pop music with choreography and sex-appeal instead of showcasing her talent and her emotional music.

That's actually what Jackson thinks, but is he right ?

You just have to see the bathroom scene to see that Ally believes in what she wrote and sang. She defends hard her music when Jackson shade her songs. All I see is him acting jealous and  trying to tell her what she has to do. Nowhere in the movie it's shown she's not happy with the music she has done for her album. So I don't see any loss of integrity there.

The movie is not that easy, maybe he is jealous but she is going crazy for success too.

She defends her new songs because she won't admit she is under control of her manager during a bad fight with her husband... Who does? If someone attacks you, you just defend yourself...Scene 98 is just showing them being unable to talk and communicate in a positive way, which leads to the bad consequences we know.

And she is not happy, she doesn't want backup dancers and at the end we know she goes back to her true self.

And she is not that 100% positive character, she didn't notice he wrote INLA lyrics in her songbook (maybe because she is not even writing her own songs? Who knows ) and more when he is leaving rehab after a lot of weeks she is just discovering there is "a nice pool" there, i mean she never went? And is not that supportive..honestly.

Ally is not a flat character, Gaga was good in giving that shades to her. He is not perfect, but she isn't too.

Can you guys stop slandering the pop bops, especially WDYDT? Went to my second screening yesterday, I was so damn excited when the pop performances came. Imma need the Heal Me and WDYDT music videos next, Ally was serving vocals + looks + choreography in those performances omg

Of course Jackson makes fun of her. In the parkin lot scene she creates deep lyrics about him in like 5 seconds, then again "Look what I found" lyrics in the cafe. And then she starts talking about the ass???

Ally's character had to be coherent, she defenfed her artistry, her nose etc just to become an ass lyricist?

So making emotional music automatically means she has artistic integrity, but making fun pop music equals no talent?  They are two different things, but can you work equally hard to create either both. It's what you choose to take pride in making.

Very true! Whilst I love songs such as ARUTW and INLA more, “why did u do that do that do that do that do that to me” is consistently in my head . My housemate and I will bop to that chorus like no tomorrow

I totally get what you mean by she’s not a flat character and I totally agree. But in rehab I think there is usually a certain amount of time that they can’t have visitors maybe depending on what happened and how bad their situation was. Ally was definitely supportive of jack, she was going to cancel her whole tour just for him
