All Taylor had to do was sell around 400K with zero airplay or streaming to get #1. It's safe to say she will far exceed that sales amount with the added bonus of the high airplay and some streaming.

Regarding ARTPOP, we'll be lucky if it sells the same or near BTW's sales seeing that album sales are decreasing at a large rate continuously. Basically, if the album manages to sell close to or reaches 5-6 million copies, I hope to dear God no one comes crawling up and calling it a flop, because I think that 5 or 6 million copies is a respectable amount of sales and people shouldn't be like OMG ARTPOP IS FLOPPING JUST LIKE BTW! *cue pre-pubescent type tantrum* I am ready to defend ARTPOP to the depths of hell if necessary.

Sorry for being of topic. :laughga:

Back to charts again, I think Taylor will debut at #1 because there is no song that is as dominant as hers right now SALES-WISE. Airplay and streaming might be her weak point, but seeing that industry predictions indicate over 500K sales or near 600K, I think Taylor has #1 on lock. Plus, it's getting healthy radio updates (we'll see how rolling effect changes that soon).

She debuted at #72.

So Gaga needs to do a Tuesday release with radio and iTunes to avoid what happened with TSwizzle?

Yup.

It'll definitely not be #1 for more than 2 weeks though

Whistle is still gaining :P

Exactly.

Big Machine Records' "golden" plan to send it to radio as soon as possible backfired.

They need to keep Gaga's single in the vault until that Tuesday.

No Monday radio

Actually, she would have to release the single on Wednesday to avoid the airplay. Taylor debuted at #72 based on the airplay from Tuesday alone... I'm against a Wednesday release, though. I say just stick to Monday or Tuesday to guarantee a #1 in it's second charting week. I think we would all agree we would rather her get a #1 rather than breaking a debut sales week record.

Okay, so why does the radio week go from Wed-Tues?

I'm not exactly sure... It is pretty strange the sales and airplay are counted on a different set of days

What a bad time for Justin Bieber to have released his 2nd single :smh:

Being cockblocked once again by the big dogs

WANEGBT, Whistle, and Some Nights will obviously be the 3 dominating songs in the coming weeks

Some Nights :legend:

The different timeframe for radio and sales is just another thing from Billboard that just makes you go "wtf?"

All the positive reaction (I'd say about 90%) from the general public on Twitter (NOT MONSTERS) for the Kendrick track is overwhelming.

They're definitely expressing interest in hearing what it sounds like

:excited2:
