I just realised it’s charts and not a poll, got all worked up seeing Wonderwall at the bottom when it’s the best song ever tbh. :huntyga:

Foo Fighters above Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Smashing Pumpkins? :interestinga: I literally never hear them on the radio. But I guess stats are stats.

The "alternative" label is such a mystery to me :emma:. What qualifies someone to be "alternative? Aren't a lot of these just rock and punk?

And a song like Muse - Madness is just plain Pop to me. Pleasantly surprised to see that it even got listed though, I didn't know many people like that song.

These lists are DISGUSTING.

Not a single woman on any of these lists.

No mention of Ani DiFranco, PJ Harvey, Bjork, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Aimee Mann, Natalie Merchant, Sarah McLachlan, Liz Phair, Sonic Youth, Stereolab, Joan Osborne, Sinead O'Connor, Portishead, Cocteau Twins, Fever Ray, Lamb, Patti Smith, Cat Power, Hole, Sleater Kinney, etc.......

I just looked at the top 100 list, and whoever came up with that list is a certified LUNATIC.

Beck is #31?!!?!???

And Foo Fighters is #1?!?

Wow.

It’s based on statistics lol. No one came up with it, except i guess you could say the radio stations who played their music (or didn’t) in the last 30 years. That’s all this is based on lol. Not albums, not singles sales, not pop radio plays. Solely alternative radio plays

Nirvana not being top 20 is just silly. With The Smiths and The Cure, they are the quintessential alternative band of all time.
