Something is weird. How on EARTH do they know how much of a song people have written? Say it would be 5 writers, do they ask how many lines each of them have come up with? No. Something is off.

Why is everyone blaming Linda Perry?

Some nominees are just lyricists along with their respective companion who came up with the "music", some are composers. Wasn't composing including production? Wouldn't Gaga qualify for "music" if not "composing" :saladga:

I'm not familiar with the process but there was a thread about something called a "cue sheet", which basically contains the credits and royalties. I assume the Emmys choose the nominees based on that document, because in some way it can accurately represent each artist's involvement on the song, I suppose.

Gaga has given them two powerful performances for the past 2 years and this is how the Academy repays her? :saladga:

Whatever.

Changing a single line to get a writing credit is dishonest, good performances or not.

Yes, it just seems odd, that, again, looking back on previous nominations, there are elligible nominees who participated with just lyrics AND their partner who came up with the music.

Anyway. I need to move on with this mess. I'll probably leave until we have something concrete for LG5 :madge:

Till you're at end end of your rope- isn't this the one line she changed? Let's not pretend it's some groundbreaking sentence haha it's another damn cliche. The end of your rope. Real creative Gags, please start smoking pot again. Sure give her a trophy why not lol

Gaga is a songwriter and she shouldn't go the Beyoncé route.

Maybe one day Gaga will get an Oscar and an Emmy but it will be for something she really wrote.

If Diane wins, I'm sure she will thank Gaga. She can probably even bring her on stage with her.

How do you know she did it for the credit though and not because what was previously there sucked?

I have a feeling she's at least attending this year. LG5 buzz and supporting AHS

I don't think she's even going to be invited since Hotel didn't get the Limited Series nomination.

i think, and hope, so. she might even say that i share this award with my dear friend, lady gaga, without whom the song wouldn't be what it is and wouldn't have reached so many people. :flutter:

However, if this had been any other artist, you wouldn't be questioning the fact that they didn't get the Emmy nomination, you'd be complaining about them getting nominated for an Oscar, in the first place.

Cackling. Too true.

I'm glad she's not nominated. It's Diane's song, Gaga produced it, which excludes her from getting any award nomination that is not about production.

I'm still a bit pissed at how Gaga or Diane or whoever presented Gaga as the main writer for the song (which she obviously is not) in the credits just to give it a higher shot at buzz or to make sure Gaga would be nominated for awards too which would then give it a bigger chance for nomination/wins or whatever, like who does that with a charity song? :rip:

So yeah, this feels like a bit of justice to me. That song has been way too inseparable from Little Monsters demanding awards, helped by Diane's obsession with getting an Oscar, and it should end.
