If only Crimea wasn't annexed... my aunt went there last summer and she said it's incredibly beautiful.

Now rooting for Kyiv. Wouldn't like a stadium though. Can't imagine that working for Eurovision.

It worked well in 2011, assuming that Ukraine will be going for a similar big production scale to Germany  It probably wouldn't work with the style of show(s) that ORF and SVT put on, but I can't imagine Ukraine taking the show in that direction

Ukraine has no money though (besides the 5 million gift and 10-15 million from revenues), unless some oligarchs choose to support it randomly (don't really know how things work in Ukraine tbh). Do Ukrainians have enough money to fill up the seats for three nights? I know Kyiv is the city in Europe with the most millionaires, but I still have my doubts considering west-Ukraine is one of the poorest parts of Europe.

Need advice. I have extremely important exams next year, and I'm thinking about going to the Eurovision finale.

Friday 9.00-12.00: philosophy

Saturday: 21.00-01.00 Eurovision (Dutch timezone, not Ukrainian)

Sunday: --

Monday: 9.00-12.00: Greek

Monday: 13.30-16.30: Biology

I will pass these exams, and entrance to a Dutch university is guaranteed, but if I want to enter a good UK university (oxford, LSE, edinburgh?) I will need to get very, very high grades. Travelling to Kyiv should take about 4 hours, so I can do that in the weekend. I won't need to study more that weekend. I wonder if I'll be able to sleep enough so I won't be fatigued during the exams. On the other hand I think having a lot of fun would help reduce stress.

Five cities have so far signed up for their interest to host Eurovision next year.

Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex, Kiev. Capacity 70 050.
Served as host for some matches of UEFA Euro 2012.

Arena Lviv, Lviv. Capacity 34 915.
Also served as host for some matches of UEFA Euro 2012.

Chornomorets Stadium, Odessa. Capacity 34 164.
The only venue in Odessa that is suitable for hosting the contest. However it lacks of roof, which is required to host the contest.

Also the cities Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson are interested, but doesn't seem to have a special arena in mind yet.

Low key hoping Kherson, my home city :excited2:But I think it's Kiev just because it's the capital city, and have easy access to it via buses, trains and planes. Pretty foreign tourist friendly compared to other cities in my opinion.

Kherson used to have an airport, but it got shut down a few years ago...

So many soccer arenas, why am I not surprised :deadbanana:

I fell down the stairs once as an actor.

So, with the new voting system Alexander Rybaks point record obviously got beaten big time so let's take a look at the highest scores with the previous system (finals only):

4. Russia 2015, Polina Gagarina - "A Million Voices" - 303p
5. Italy 2015, Il Volo - "Grande amore"- 292p
5. Finland 2006, Lordi - "Hard Rock Hallelujah" - 292p
7. Austria 2014, Conchita Wurst - "Rise Like a Phoenix" - 290p

Most 12 points in a final:
18 - Sweden 2012, Loreen - "Euphoria"
16 - Norway 2009, Alexander Rybak - "Fairytale"
13 - Austria 2014, Conchita Wurst - "Rise Like a Phoenix"

Queen Loreen is standing strong with her record as Ukraine got "only" 17 12s in total (11 from the juries and 6 from the televoting) this year :legend:

What's the lowest amount of points/12s someone has won with?

I only checked the 2000s since there weren't so many countries participating earlier so it's not fair to compare (plus it would take too long to go through all the years :green:).

The lowest amount of points was Turkey 2003 with 167p and the lowest amount of 12s was Azerbaijan 2011 (and Israel 1998) with only 3.

Today it's been 10 years since Finland and Lordi rocked Eurovisionland and brought it to Helsinki for the first time. I remember it like yesterday.
