"sjws" never have claimed that beyonce isn't problematic

Sure, they never SAID "Beyoncé isn't problematic," but from what I've seen, they put her up on a pedestal and some are even defending her against the cultural appropriation accusations (or just keeping silent even though they've criticized others for the same thing).

And I'm not the only person thinking this...

"Remember when Avril Lavigne made that video for her Japanese fans? Yeah tumblr bit her head off for it even though it was directed by a Japanese person. But Beyonce and Coldplay do the same thing and suddenly ppl wanna jump through hoops to defend it. And let’s be honest. If this was just Coldplay and Beyonce was nowhere to be found there wouldn’t be anyone defending it.

I’m not Indian so I don’t have a dog in this fight. I see some find it offensive and others don’t. Some think it’s appreciation and others think it’s appropriation. But I can’t help but feel that because it’s Beyonce that ppl are even trying to defend it. Because, you know, Beyonce can do no wrong.

This is tumblr at its hypocritical best." (x)

"Tumblr treats Beyonce like some magnificent goddess, then THIS happens, and my dash becomes intriguingly dead silent on the matter. Very, very interesting." (x)

And there's also the original post, which criticizes how certain users are quick to criticize Iggy for appropriating Indian culture but quick to defend Beyoncé for doing the same thing.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut that's just how I see it. :gaycat: I'm sure other people have different perspectives.

I'm not a woman. I'm not a man. I am something that you'll never understand.

Whispering

If Gaga had done this exact same video, people would be dragging her to the pits of hell. Iggy...it would be a bloodbath. Miley is so problematic in general, that people would just throw it in the big problematic pile. Lol

But Beyonce is "showing respect and love" for a culture that isn't hers.

Stupid, once again people are taking "cultural appropriation" and running with it. Everyone is guilty of it these days. I believe every culture has beautiful aspects, that we should embrace. It doesn't offend me at all to see Beyoncé or Iggy wear Indian clothes. It doesn't bother me at all to see the whole world emulate American culture, music, entertainment, etc. People really need to get it together.

Culutural appropriation doesn't really apply to her outfit. It's fashion and fashion can't really be culturally appropriated. If she wore a bindi for fashion that would be different - that actually holds meaning, and wearing one as purely aesthetic is treading in the territory of cultural insensitivity. A dress is not held sacred - not the kind she is wearing at least. This is more cultural exchange than cultural appropriation.

I still can't believe that. That video was bad, but other than that nothing was wrong with it.
