What's keeping E•MO•TION and its singles from ruling the charts?

I think it has sold enough that Carly is probably not struggling for money, and I think that's ok. It's a lovely and catchy album and I'm kind of glad we don't have to have it shoved down our throats on every radio station 24/7 like some other artists

Well, releasing IRLY as lead single was an awful choice. She's pretty unknown, and radio doesn't support her. 

She's full of potential, EMOTION is Teenage Dream 2.0, with the difference that Carly has much more talent than Katy, imo. She truly needs a miracle to succed commercialy, because artistically, she has alredy done so.

I completely agree with you, there's no need for more "bad" pop music in the spotlight

Don't get me wrong I like the album, I don't think it's bad, but I am not coming back to it, it's okay to listen it for a few times and that's it

I don't know, but it is one of my favorite albums of 2015. I Really Like You was a big hit here, but she disappeared after that.

Well I'm a fan of it so I listen to it frequently, but the beauty of it not being a #1 hit is that people like you who aren't as particularly impressed by it don't have to listen to it every time they turn on the radio. And I don't have to get sick of it by hearing it on the radio. Win-win for everyone (except Carly ).

Lack of promo tbh. Plus RAWM should have been the lead single, coz it was the best single of 2015 tbh.

Anyway, she managed to create a great album, gain critical acclaim and establish a fanbase, which is important too.

When i meant no promo it was for her other singles! i already said that I really like you was mediocre, but with proper promo Run away with me could have been a hit

Because talent doesn't always win.

Run Away With me is a hit that ran away. 

I think bad single choices left a bad taste in people's mouth (I really like you is the weakest from the album).

And releasing/promoting slow songs so early in a era makes people less interesting (well to me at least, if my fave (other than Adele) start the second single as a ballad or something slower, I wouldn't be super interested tbh).

I didn't mention her aesthetic.. what makes you think personality is appearance? What a bizarre thing to say.

But since you mentioned her aesthetic, she's plain as hell.

There is nothing special about her. She's known for annoying music, she has no personality, she's not particularly good looking and she doesn't perform particularly well.

Where is her USP? Why should anyone have any interest in her? There's no reason.
