Grace Jones is probably one of the most influential people in pop culture and most pop divas know it and admit it. Now, is she really the original one? Not really.

Grace Jones was a pioneer but there were many other people doing what she was doing in the underground scene. She got more attention than them and was lucky enough to be on the mainstream for a while.

All these artists who claim to be the "original ones" need to get off their high horse. No one is the original one, there was always someone before them.

It's Britney. She's the only one who fits the description.

"I look at Doris and I think: Does she look happy? She looks lost, like she is desperately trying to find the person she was when she started. She looks like really she knows she is in Vegas, now that Vegas is the whole entertainment world filtered through the internet, through impatient social media. I don’t mind her dressing up, but when she started to dance like Madonna, almost immediately, copying someone else, it was like she had forgotten what it was about her that could be unique. Ultimately, it is all about prettiness and comfort, however much they pretend they are being provocative."

I think she means that Doris knows she's gonna end up as a washed up Vegas act at somepoint. Idk maybe it is Britney, but the whole dressing up and Madonna comparisons just screams Gaga shade. Idk.

It's science, bitch

Is "Doris" supposed to Britney or Gaga or what?

Gaga, the Vegas part is tricky but if you look at it closely, when she says Vegas, she's referring to the Internet and social media. At least that's how I took it. Plus the description doesn't fit Britney, Britney never dressed up, she was always plain Jane girl next door. Furthermore, Grace doesn't name Britney as a pupil.

EDIT: NEVERMIND I HAVE NO IDEA. lol

It turned me off that she acts so pretentious. She was legit a small part of the 80s and was more of a fashion icon as opposed to a music one.

It would serve her well to collaborate with the youth and set her history in pop culture. Shame.

It saddens me tbh. I do think there's a more tactful way to make a point without name dropping. It takes away from her legacy ... Btw the whole I'm not a Diva... I'm a Jones line..... Girl bye .

Doris, I would say fame is all well and good if you want to take it to another level. If you have some greater purpose. Me, I am just a singer, on one sort of stage or another, who likes to have an audience, but not all the time. Listen to my advice; I have some experience. In a way, it is me being a teacher, which is what I wanted to be. I still feel I could go into teaching. What is teaching but passing on your knowledge to those who are at the beginning? Some people are born with that gift. With me, the teaching side morphed into the performing side. It’s in there. And these are my pupils – Gaga, Madonna, Annie Lennox, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Miley, Kanye West, FKA Twigs and... Doris.

You see this is what bothers me.

Now I respect Grace and what she has done on the past and won't deny her influence she may or may not have had on some of the artists she mentioned...

However...

SO Grace believes Doris is lost, or unhappy. Now if Grace also feels like a teacher and that all these artists are her students, why did she never feel the need to help or assist? Why did she do absolutely nothing but criticise a whole list of current singers except for the one she feels may need the most help, and in fact, didn't even mention her name. Maybe this is just me nitpicking, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about...

But a teacher that can see that one of her students are struggling and does nothing about it, doesn't deserve that title.

I respect Grace, but if you are going to call yourself a teacher, you had best be doing more than just complaining in a biography or interview.

It's gotta be Britney. "Lost...trying to be who she was when she started...copying Madonna's dances...Vegas"

Not to mention the Vegas references.

omg we cracked the Grace Code

Life ain't Hollywood for any one of us.

Just when you thought Madonna had the biggest ego and grudge against Gaga allegedly copying her career...

Grace... :bye:

Nobody asked for your "advice" and Gaga is doing Gaga...not Grace from decades ago so you can have several seats. You didn't invent clothes, dancing, or music...

If anything you show your insecurities by complaining about others who aren't even giving you a second thought...it's your problem...not theirs. Get over yourself and focus on YOUR extremely successful career...:later:
