Producers can be artists, a singer who interprets a song differently (by arranging the music differently and changing the melody) could be considered an artist, a performer who is is more involved in live shows and directs how their performances are going to be can be an artist, someone who is heavily involved in their music videos and creating worlds for their albums can be an artist.

Songwriting is hard and it's certainly an artistic expression, but you can be an artist without songwriting being your main talent.

I disagree because a musician could hypothetically not write their own songs but be involved in other aspects of their music and image, such as music production, music videos, and fashion. There are other ways to express artistry.
