Kathleen Pryer, PhD, a Professor of Biology at Duke University. Her research lab focuses on understanding the evolutionary relationships of ancient land plants––especially ferns––by integrating evidence from morphology, DNA, and the fossil record.

The American Fern Society is over 100 years old. With over 900 members worldwide, it is one of the largest international fern clubs in the world. It was established in 1893 with the objective of fostering interest in ferns and fern allies.

Well known, respected and commemorated way, way beyond realm of pop music.

If that were the case, they wouldn't have named a fern after her and there wouldn't be a picture of her next to the picture of the fern in that presentation that that woman is making in the screen shot attached in the OP.   :queenga:
