She didn't have problems like this back when she was at her most popular. It was only after 2010 that the problems started because she was becoming overexposed, people were getting tird of her and she was now an ok target. It just goes to show that this is a bigger factor than the song actually being a genuine rip-off. I doubt BTW would have had the backlash it had if she had released it during her peak.

Well, everyone who listened to Alejandro back then knew that it was a mix of Don't Turn Around + ABBA's Fernando + a mix of europop + Czardas violin. So it's obviously a mix of influences and people knew about it back then, I remember the "backlash" or the negativity started with the music video then Born This Way and then everything was just bad after that, I think.

People were okay with Gaga until she became the "Not generic popstar that actually does something outside of her box".
