I'm still Pressed that Jake Gyllenhaal wasn't nominated for Best actor :madge:

His performance on "Nightcrawler" was >>> Overrated Cooper

Destiny is for losers. It’s just a stupid excuse to wait for things to happen instead of making them happen

Since I haven't seen most of these movies i would be guessing at the winners. I can say I think Boyhood is over-rated. The Grand Budapest Hotel was excellent and Robert Duvall gave an award winning performance in The Judge. I always tune in for the Oscars and the bonus this year is that Lady Gaga is performing.

Mars..........or bust!

Vernier

Good thread idea. I think almost all the acting categories are on lockdown besides Best Actor, the rest are easily predictable :emma: Praying that Interstellar wins in one of the technical categories it's nominated for

Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn

It would be even better if she actually ever won

Only SIX actors and actresses have received three or more acting Academy Awards:

Katharine Hepburn (four Best Actress awards), Ingrid Bergman (two Best Actress awards and one Best Supporting Actress award), Walter Brennan (three Best Supporting Actor awards), Jack Nicholson (two Best Actor awards and one Best Supporting Actor award), Meryl Streep (two Best Actress awards and one Best Supporting Actress award), and Daniel Day-Lewis (three Best Actor awards).

One Five Ten

Predictions:

Best Picture - Boyhood

Best Director - Richard Linklater, Boyhood

Best Actor - Michael Keaton, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Best Actress - Julianne Moore, Still Alice

Best Supporting Actor - JK Simmons, Whiplash

Best Supporting Actress - Patricia Arquette, Boyhood

Best Original Screenplay - Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

Best Adapted Screenplay - Whiplash

Best Animated Feature - How to Train Your Dragon 2

Best Foreign Language Film - Leviathan

I wish Gone Girl and Wild received nominations.

Gone Girl absolutely, Wild I would be inclined to disagree although I did like it a lot more than American Sniper and The Theory of Everything, so possibly!

Agree completely. Bradley Cooper totally deserved his nominations for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, but his performance in American Sniper left a lot to be desired, even if it was one of the best things about the film.
