Sales began to dip in 2013.

Well if you wanna get real technical, sales have been dropping for over a decade. The songs mentioned in your OP were all top ten hits in 2014. If you were to compare those sales with the sales of the top 10 in fall/winter of 2013, there would be a bit of difference.

Album sales have been dropping for a decade.

Single sales (which is what we're discussing here) have been dropping since 2013.

Ok then why don't you use singles from 2013 for a better comparison...

Literally every person I know loved that song. And people I didn't know at parties would sing the words when it came on. That song was a success whether the misinformed people here who write it off because it did go Top 10 want to believe it or not. They can remain in the pressed box.

DWUW is my favorite Gaga song ever.

Here it was a radio smash and it was really popular. Kinda like the old Just Dance / Poker Face days, this song was loved by different type of person who usually wouldn't like a Gaga song.

I shuddered earlier when reading the OP.

I thought I trapped myself in chart and sales thread.

Phew, what a trip! :eww: :eww:

Anyway,

Sometimes all it takes is how appreciated a song is.

AFAIK DWUW are known on the outside.

It doesn't have an MV.

The only close to promo it had was that Beats headphone ad.

And it seems that is enough for people to noticed.

People who enjoyed urban music pretty much enjoyed it.

I think it was a huge song. When I was backpacking through SE Asia I heard it in every country I went. I first heard the Xtina version on the radio in Vietnam  :worship2:

Well, I live in Austria and it was the only ARTPOP single I ever heard on the radio. They played it a lot.

It sold more than Anaconda?! :what:

Could you imagine the smash we woulda had if the video was released? :nooo:

It's my favorite song off ARTPOP. I don't think I'll die happy until I see that fücking video.

As we all know, DWUW peaked at #13 in the U.S and is viewed by some Gaga fans and other pop stans as a failure.

However, I've been looking at the sales of other songs recently and have been noticing a trend.

As we all know (or maybe not all), DWUW has sold over 1,350,000 copies in the United States.

Here are other recent hits' sales:

Anaconda by Nicki Minahj - 1,300,000 (#2)

Animals by Maroon 5 - 1,200,000 (#3)

Break Free by Ariana Grande - 1,400,000 (#4)

Don't by Ed Sheeran - 1,464,000 (#9)

A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay - 1,000,000 (#10)

Sing by Ed Sheeran - 1,323,000 (#13)

Is it us, the very fans who stick by Gaga's side, that belittle her success the most?

What are your thoughts?

Ok ... DWUW it's definitely a hit ... Since these two songs were played ALL DAY at the radios :rip: (at least in Spain)

Just imagine DWUW :legend:
