Whispering 18,865 Posted December 4, 2014 Share Posted December 4, 2014 Unless RIAA, her label and the PR writer were all misinformed...it did in fact go platinum.  This press release got sent to everyone in the industry  They weren't misinformed. Her label simply overshipped just for the sake of certification, which is actually really uncommon these days. My Everything has only sold around 400K, according to Soundscan. Usually, an artist needs to get to at least 900K plus, before their label will jump the gun and apply for platinum certification.  Everyone in the music business knows this certification is a complete joke and is laughing about it behind her and her label's back. There really isn't any kind of long-term promo that will get this album to sell almost 600k more, when she hasn't sold that much with three big pop singles already.  This is actually quite embarrassing for Ariana, and I wish her label wouldn't have pulled this silly stunt.
