Her music might be simple, but simple is good sometimes. There is something amazing about her diary-like lyrics and simple, gorgeous melodies. If Frozen never became such a popular movie, it almost certainly wouldn't have been so alcaimed. It's trendy to praise things that are popular. Now I'm not saying that popular things don't deserve praise, but it will be interesting to see how much "critical acclaim" taylor gets when she isn't so popular. I agree that she isn't very iconic, if at all, just extremely successful. But nothing wrong with that.
