The altered synth melodies actually make the song more than bearable- it makes it... good. Wow.

I remember loving the Fame Ball version of the song, but it's like falling in love with it all over again.

Ooh nice! First time I see that performance. It proves once again that, more often than not, her live renditions are better/more interesting than the studio recording, and that is what it makes her a fascinating performer and musician.
