UPDATE: June 14th, 2017. The film's production is getting a second wind. A different company will develop it now. We're back in business.

A few days ago, Mike McCready of Pearl Jam stopped by the Sirius Entertainment to talk about the story behind a picture of himself with Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga.

According to the interview (Gaga's part at 1:40), Lady Gaga recorded THREE (!) and not one as previously reported songs for the movie (see update on the movie production below).

Paul McCartney’s long-in-the-works animated film High In The Clouds, which has been in development since 2009, has been optioned by Gaumont, the French company with offices in Beverly Hills. The film will feature eight or nine original songs by the former Beatle. Two years ago, Deadline got a sneak peek at a sizzle reel for the film, which includes a rollicking number by Lady Gaga that hasn’t been heard yet publicly.

February 2015.

One of the biggest projects in the current pipeline, an animated feature film called High In The Clouds, is moving forward, she said. That film, based on a children’s book co-written by Paul McCartney, is co-produced by Unique Features. Earlier this month, the former Beatle performed a duet with Lady Gaga for the film’s sizzle reel, which the company hopes will be ready in time to show distributors at the Cannes Film Festival market in May.

Just a follow-up to a piece above (via http://deadline.com/2015/05/rgh-entertainment-devleoping-3d-in-360-degrees-1201423318/ ):

Earlier in the week, Deadline took a tour of the RGH facilities. The company is currently developing a sizzle reel for High In The Clouds, in which McCartney will voice one of the main characters. It will also feature seven or eight of his new songs, including a rollicking tune performed by Lady Gaga that hasn’t been heard yet outside the studio.

So, the project is still active and moving on.

May 20, 2015 update (via http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/paul-mccartney-pens-seven-or-eight-new-songs-for-animated-film-20150520 ):

High in the Clouds will be helmed by Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 director Cody Cameron and penned by Date Night screenwriter Josh Klausner. No release date for the animated film or its soundtrack has been announced yet, but RGH plans on premiering their sizzle reel in November at the American Film Market in Santa Monica, California.
