Not a fan of the new SEA & TEA rules tbh :smh: But slay

Ehhhh honestly neither am I. It gets REALLY messy. But I just wanted to compare ARTPOP's sales with TEA and SEA to other albums because it's only fair. Using the 754,000 number of sales alone isn't fair when these conversions seem to be dictating the music industry now..

Ok, tbh My Everything's grammy nod makes a bit more sense now, those streaming points jesus :air:

Slay a bit :applause:

In the U.S, yes.

In other countries, songs and albums get certified as soon as they pass a certain amount of copies.

The RIAA (which certifies in the U.S) is a company that is here to make money.

I can't because this is U.S based only.

WW video views and spotify streams are easily accessible. Domestic streams and views are not.

You gotta pay for it in Germany too, that's why Gaga's lastest certs are from 2012

As we all know, the music industry has changed vastly in the past year. Nielsen Soundscan has started to include Track Equivalent Albums (TEAs) and Stream Equivalent Albums (SEAs) in their album sales so I would say it's fair to calculate ARTPOP's Album Sales with Tracks + Streams!

Here's 2014's TOP Albums with TEA + SEA.

The bold # is the total, the italicized number is album sales, the number with a * is TEA, and the number with a bold ^ is SEA :)

1 VARIOUS ARTISTS FROZEN 4,471,000 3,527,000 7,982,000* 218,997,000^

2 TAYLOR SWIFT 1989 4,399,000 3,661,000 7,210,000* 26,143,000^

3 SAM SMITH IN THE LONELY HOUR 2,075,000 1,207,000 6,782,000* 285,271,000^

4 ARIANA GRANDE MY EVERYTHING 1,514,000 509,000 8,313,000* 260,176,000^

5 KATY PERRY PRISM 1,503,000 584,000 7,742,000* 216,535,000^

6 LORDE PURE HEROINE 1,481,000 841,000 4,683,000* 257,961,000^

7 BEYONCE BEYONCE 1,469,000 878,000 4,829,000* 162,408,000^

8 ED SHEERAN X 1,396,000 810,000 4,493,000* 204,933,000^

9 PHARRELL WILLIAMS G I R L 1,390,000 581,000 7,344,000* 111,198,000^

10 LUKE BRYAN CRASH MY PARTY 1,341,000 800,000 4,579,000* 125,736,000^

Now back to Gaga!

ARTPOP has sold around 754,000 copies in the U.S

ARTPOP's singles have sold around 4.1M copes in the U.S

Now for ARTPOP's streams....that's a big tricky. But Luke Bryan has 125M so I'll add 125M to her numbers since she definitely has more streams but I'll be safe.

So 754k (sales) + 410k (TEA) + 125k (SEA) = 1,289,000 TOTAL

It really puts a lot of things into perspective when you use the method official charts companies are using.

This is great! The reporting on Gaga's Wiki page is so wrong. its still has Cheek to Cheek at 200,000+ I bet the ARTPOP numbers are wrong too. I looked into suggesting and edit based on Billboard.com  based on this article.

http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6436456/billboard-200-ed-sheeran-x-top-three?mobile_redirection=false

but I noticed the writer of the articles on Gaga's paged seemed biased and almost like a Madonna fan. Always comparing the two. Then I found this,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:IndianBio

Maybe someone can explain this to me, but from what I understand a HUGE Madonna fan is writing or doing most of the editing on Gaga's Wiki profile page. Am I wrong?

The ARTPOP Songs have an accumulated 201,767,920 WW streams on Spotify as of today, Applause and DWUW making up the bulk of that with 80M and ~60M respectively.

On VEVO, Applause (Music Video) has 199M views, Applause (Audio) has 23M, DWUW (Audio) has 43M, and G.U.Y has 62M and G.U.Y Only has 24M.

That is an accumulation of at least 523M Video and Audio streams WW for the ARTPOP era using only VEVO and Spotify.

Now, I gave the 125M U.S-based streams estimate randomly but with the WW number above I would say it's safe to assume that Gaga has well over 200M U.S-based streams for ARTPOP.

Now let's recalculate.

754,000 sales + 410,000 TEA + 200,000 SEA = 1,364,000 units of ARTPOP in the U.S.
Slayage :applause:

I don't think Vevo counts towards SEA on streaming services like Spotify, Rahspody and a couple others. I don't think even pandara counts as SEA.

1500 is the amount of streams. $.006 is what Spotify pays per streams depends on the Artist it could be more.

1500 x $.006 = $ 9.00 The price of an album maybe a sale album

Vevo pays $.0022

1500 x $.0022 = $3.30

Thats less than the qualifying $3.49 per album to be counted by billboard. Youtube pays even less per album, but their plays are counted toward the hot 100 as a play not a sale. This is just an assumption based on a per stream payment I found for Youtube and Vevo and why those two services were not mentioned by Billboard when the rule changed for streaming tracks in Nov. 2014

You're right. Only On-Demand Audio subscription services like Spotify count for SEA. You're also right that the conversion method is 1500 streams = 1 album sale.

I'll recalculate yet again.

754,000 (sales) + 410,000 (TEA) + 60,000(?) = 1,204,000

Either way, ARTPOP is Platinum with TEA alone.

Yeay! I love ARTPOP! I have it on repeat in Spotify. You should count streams from now on. I don't think the rule applies to before Nov. 30. or if there was away to count from then. I wish the rule applied to before 2013.
