The Sims 4 Debuts #1 on UK Charts

From physical sales, alone!

The Sims 4 has debuted at the top of the UK all-format chart, purely from physical sales alone.

Electronic Arts' popular life-sim is the first PC-only game to top the chart since the release of Guild Wars 2 in August 2012. The achievement is even more considerable when taking into account that the UK games chart does not yet calculate digital downloads, which tend to represent the bulk of sales for most PC games.

The Sims 4 is EA’s third game this year that has debuted at number one - following Titanfall and EA Sports UFC. FIFA 14, which originally released last year, has also reached number one in 2014.

Chart success for The Sims 4 comes as a developer of the game explained that Maxis may not have a chance to develop a sequel unless sales milestones are reached.

Grant Rodiek, a producer on the Sims 4, wrote on the game's official forums: "We're not working on Sims 5. We're not thinking about Sims 5. If Sims 4 isn't successful, there won't be a Sims 5."

"Ugh, Sims 4 is gonna suck! *puts 1 copy in cart*

All the good stuff is gone! *puts another copy in the cart*

I'm never buying anything from EA ever again! *puts the rest of the shelf in the cart*

That will show them!"

It will still pale in comparison to The Sims 3's 1.4 million first week sales :coffee:

No pools, no toddlers, no open world, no success :laughga:

Everyone needs to get over what this one doesn't have and appreciate its still a good Sims game. It deserves the success

Obviously it's going to do well in the first week, it's a Sims game. It's like when Gaga releases music and all of her Little Monsters buy it as soon as it's released because they're Little Monsters, but after that, sales naturally decrease.

lol it doesn't.

It doesn't have basic stuff that the original one had a decade ago.

Don't even.

The Sims 1 didn't have toddlers. But I agree that 4 is just another money grab... It's a game people will be happy to torrent, mostly because of the ****ty business practices of EA. They should lose a little bit of money on this one and give us what we want and maybe in a couple years regain the love of the community.

Its pathetic they couldn't even copy and paste stuff right.

Sorry if that comes off as whining, but who the **** removes simple things like that from the game.

No dishwashers? What is this, some 3rd world nation Sim?
