The website PC Gamer just published the first review of the highly anticipated Roller Coaster Tycoon: World! the fourth PC installment in the series. Along with the review, RCT's Facebook page also revealed the first screenshots from the game, showing a visual improvement over RCT3 but still keeping some of the cartoonish vibe to it.

New features and overview:

-Developers tried to recreate the series' original feel. Heavy customization is back for this installment.

-The game will include 4 main themes: '50's Americana (possibly similar to the generic theme), Western, Science Fiction and Adventure.

-You'll be able to read the general consensus of your park through something called the ''Park Pulse'', which will aggregate your peeps' opinions into a summarized a--lysis.

-One of the biggest changes in the game is the ride construction system. The new system is a nod-based construction system in which you'll be able to intituively and easily design all sorts of roller coasters through a pull/push/twist interface. This is a very big improvement after the ''place piece by piece'' system that previous games used.

-The on-ride camera used in RCT3 is back for World.

-Parks will be broken out into four different areas, each with the size of a regular theme park. Initially, you'll obtain only one of these four areas to create your theme park. If you have enough economic resources, you'll be able to buy additional terrains and build more theme parks within the same complex. All parks will be connected through a monorail line. Optionally, you'll be able to activate the multi-player mode, allowing 4 players to develop each one of the mentioned parks. This feature pretends to create a Disney World sort of dynamic.

-Developers were very clear to emphasize that their system will not be the same as the one from the controversial SimCity. On-line and multi-player features are completely optional since the beginning.

-You will be able to explore other players' parks with the online feature.

-Unlike previous games, now you'll be able to move/rotate your rides whenever you want (instead of bulldozing the whole ride to change its position).

-The game will ship with four landscapes: Forest, Island, Science Fiction and Canyon.

-Sit-down restaurants will be added to the game. They'll fit the different themes.

-The developers took Disney parks as the standard of the ultimate theme park experience. They wanted to make different references to Disney parks.

-The park characters will evolve through the years and they'll have a bigger participation in the visual and interactive aspects of the game. The developers used Mickey Mouse as the base to develop the game's mascots. You can even build a statue that is reminiscent of the ''Partners'' statue in Disneyland Ca.

-Your park visitors will be more expressive than ever before.

-Queues WILL be part of the game. They are not shown in the first screenshots because those pictures are from renderings from the first engine they designed for the game.

-The game will be available on Steam.

-Long term construction phase is expected to be part of the game. Once you finish a ride, you'll have to wait for your pixelated builders to construct it ala SimCity (NOT CONFIRMED).

-Developers played the previous installments for hours in order to take what they enjoyed the most and change what they didn't like, in order to apply it to RCTW.

So happy it isn't isometric - I don't understand why so many people wanted it that way. The original was iso because the graphics were limited - there's no reason for iso now. It's 2014 - I want an immesive theme park not what looks like a pixel art poster. Just praying that there will be a Mac version upon release unlike The Sims 4.

As a fan of both, I've always thought that The Sims's expansion packs should be like RCT's. They are some of the most complete EP's in videogame history.

These are nice visual improvements. The last time I played RCT 3 was maybe like 2 years ago? :dies: This brings nice memories.

Why does it look so bad?

I in no way think graphics are more important than gameplay, but look at those ragged lines and bad textures..wtf..this is 2014. Have they ever heard of anti-alias?
