Lady Gaga can’t catch a break this year from anyone, so it’s no surprise that the VMAs, who anointed her their new overlord only a few years ago, have abandoned her, even though “Applause†is a better video than many of the nominated clips. I'm surprised not to see the lush, grotesque "G.U.Y." anywhere among the nominees, but I'm sure Gaga will be back next year with more poppy art. Not nominating the biggest video project of this year, GUY, was a crime And Fancy getting lots of nominations? Problem being nominated for the video of they year? The VMA's isn't about if the song was a hit or not.
