Anveeroy 56,890 Posted July 22, 2018 Share Posted July 22, 2018 Patrick Bénot, the owner of a Wantagh-based computer consulting business, said he trademarked the “SwiftLife” name in 2007 — nine years before Swift the singer and Glu Games inked a deal to launch “The Swift Life” app. The internationally known artist allegedly went ahead and used the name without permission from Bénot, who is SwiftLife’s owner and sole employee. That’s been hurting his business, Bénot said, and SwiftLife refuses to shake it off. It sued Taylor Swift, Glu Games and others Friday in Long Island Federal Court. “In filing this action, SwiftLife, whose business pales in comparison to that of Ms. Swift and Glu, is standing up for itself — and much like Ms. Swift in her fights against the bullies she has encountered in her own life — seeks to enforce its rights in and to the SwiftLife trademark against Ms. Swift and Glu, both of whom are financial giants,” court papers said. That's the case with trademarks, you can trademark everything and maybe one day someone will use it and you can sue them to get some money.. it's a business.. If I make t-shirts with trademarks and sell 10, they wouldn't be mad. But if I start to sell 100, 1000, 10.000, they would get CRAZY and come for me.
