Yeah, but unfortunately, the catch is that they aren't big name actors that will get the funding needed to make these movies. Therefore, the movie doesn't get made.

The solution to this is easy. You put other well known actors in the movies surrounding the unknown actor. Most people didnt know who Matt Damon was before Good Will Hunting. Almost no one knew who Leonardo Dicaprio was before "Whats eating Gilbert Grape?". Same principal

Well SJW got their wish, I guess? Or not? :vegas:

I didn't get the problem from the start tbh. The thing with acting is that you're pretending to be someone else, you play a role.

Yeah... How dare trans actors speak out about the struggles they go through in Hollywood :vegas: That's what they get for bringing to our attention that cis actors can audition for (and get) any type of role, but trans actors in most cases can't even audition for cis roles, and when they audition for the few trans roles they can, they don't even get those :vegas:

They have also pointed out that casting a cis woman to play a trans man, or casting a cis man to play a trans woman also affects the general view society has on trans people, since it reinforces the idea that trans women are men in dresses and trans men are just butch women. They have said it'd be better if they casted cis men to play trans men and cis women to play trans women. I believe this would be the best way to produce this movie, if they can't find a trans actor to play the role. They could still get a high profile actor, get funding for the movie, and help the community. They could also get trans people involved behind the scenes, as they have in other movies/shows so that it is more authentic.

Of course what really needs to happen is for producers, movie studios/networks and casting agencies to open their doors for trans actors and trans professionals on all levels to work on Hollywood productions. But until that happens, it's clear why trans actors (specially) speak out about this problem. Because cis actors getting trans roles means that the job pool trans actors have gets even smaller when cis actors get many of the roles they can even audition for.

Anyone who makes the bad decision to do a live action adaptation anime deserves all their movies to close.

Matt Damon wrote Good Will Hunting. He and Ben shopped it around for a long time before they found a buyer willing to let them be the leads. That situation is very different.

What's Eating Gilbert Grape had Johnny Depp and wasn't considered a big budget film.

It could work, but only if there are other roles that are as fundamental to the story as the lead. Movies don't always line up that way. It's got to be the right script to make this project appeasing to the people with the big money to fund a movie.

It was bound to happen. Studios won't invest in a nobody as their leading role just because it'd be right. Apparently SJW didn't know that.:vegas:
