Can you please explain to me what call out scores are? I hear that term often but I'm not sure of what it means

No problem! call out scores are basically the scores from audiences! It tells radio stations whether to keep playing a song or to drop it like a hot potato. Perfect Illusion for example was dropped quickly on radio because it had one of the worst call out scores unfortunately and many other songs suffer the same fate. If the GP enjoys a song the call out scores are positive and so the stations keep the song on rotation / give it longevity etc..

Thank you so much  I actually always thought it was the opposite :selena:

But how do the audience give their scores? How are they determined?

When you request a song on the radio...

Requests and surveys online. Also stations in the US commonly call random americans from all sorts of demographics every week and ask them to do surveys. They also do a thing called "testing familiarity" where they see if a song is known and if it has "burned out" (as in been overplayed) or if it is unknown and has room to grow still.

Honestly best single off the album. Lots of better songs were snubbed, like why was ...Ready For It? the second single?

Ikr ? LWYMMD was understandable because the video sort of like molded the imagery Taylor was aiming for this era. The follow up singles apart from Delicate were kinda weak imo. ..RFI? was a Top 10 because the GP was still under LWYMMD's influence but fell quite hard probably because it was overhyped. Gorgeous could have been selling like hot cakes if it was sent to the radios as the second single instead of ...RFI? . End Game was just plainly a bad choice, and is New Year's Day still considered a single at this point? :emma:

That's not why it went top 40 on the Hot 100. The impact of her appearing on the BBMAs will effect next weeks chart (if it has any impact at all). Delicate going top 40 this week is cuz of it's strong call out scores on radio which helped it grow organically on Pop, AC and HAC radio formats. Also it has been hanging in the 30 ish range of itunes for ages now.

Hope the song keeps growing! It's a great song and the Reputation era deserves at least another moderate hit.

Hoping Delicate enters the top 10

or should I say Delusion

:toofunny:

but no seriously its a good song

Just because of her appearance at the BBMAs without even performing it?

No no, just because of radio payola.

I can't at how bad her singles performed this era. Thank god she has that massive tour.

Oh. That means Delicate could keep rising. Her north american tour is also giving it a push. As the tour goes on hopefully the song continues to ascend as well

They released ready for it as a promo first and debuted at #4. Imagine if it was released as an official single along with the video without being a promo. Could’ve charted higher.

And they thought the Future and Ed Sheeran feature on End Game, since they’re in-demand on Streaming platforms, would give a huge impact to the song sales and streams, hence the expensive video. But it didn’t work:selena:

Nah this isn't a case of payola. As someone who has been tracking radio for a long while the song literally grew organically on radio. In fact if they would of done any radio payola they would of done it when the song was also doing well on Spotify (which it currently isn't as it has peaked in terms of streaming). This was one of the most organic rises for a pop girl song in a while.

The song itself is very light and refreshing to the ears, no wonder why it’s receiving good acclaim from Radio listeners
