Someone opened fire at a high school in the southeastern Texas city of Santa Fe on Friday morning, officials said, leaving more than one person injured and students running from the school.

A suspect in the shooting at Santa Fe High School has been arrested, assistant principal Cris Richardson told reporters near the school.

An armed person walked into an art class at Santa Fe High School and began firing what looked like a shotgun, a witness told CNN affiliate KTRK.

The witness told KTRK she saw a girl shot in the leg. Witnesses also described hearing an alarm at the school, though the sequence of events wasn't immediately clear.

Patients from the school are being taken to a hospital in the nearby city of Galveston, hospital spokesman Raul Reyes said. He did not say how many or give details about the injuries.

Yet another active school shooter news @ Santa Fe High School. THOUGHTS & PRAYERS DOESN'T PREVENT SCHOOL SHOOTINGS. ACTION MUST BR TAKEN IMMEDIATELY. Students' lives are at risk daily with unpredictable threats. :grr:

It's not how many, it's whose child.

Unfortunately that is very true.

I was ten years old when Columbine happened and I cannot erase the horror and the images of those children jumping out the windows. I will never forget it, but it seems that lawmakers have.

I lost confidence after nothing was done after Sandy Hook. :ohno:

US never learns... it's so sad how children loose their lives or getting traumatized because of that.

Thoughts are with them all, but action needs to be taken now. I don’t care what a persons politics are, we can not allow more children to be killed at school like this. It’s atrocious and must be stopped, but sadly the government prefer to see blood every day as long as money is in their pockets from NRA sponsorship. Shame.

It's scary how I don't have any reaction to this news at all, like it's become a common thing to happen in the US.

They really need some strong gun control

Well thats what they want and some have become that way.  The Parkland high massacre was "the last", ya know but then the media allowed those survivor KIDS to be disgraced and mocked. And the NRA publishes press releases of how much their donor support has increased.  Its insane.

Millions and millions and millions of Americans are not asleep on this. But when governement and NRA are in each others pockets right now, theres only so much that will be done....

Like a God bless you and another round of golf.
