Andreu

Am I the only one that likes her but literally couldn't care less about his pre-off the wall stuff???

OT: surprised to see that Beat It is the biggest from thriller honestly. And surprised to see that YANA is the biggest from History but that's great cause that is one of my favourites from him (most of them from this album tho)

YANA went #1 immediately upon dropping :sis:

I'm surprised to see Butterflies at the top for the Invincible era :hmm: I thought for sure You Rock My World would be higher since it had the video and promo. Plus, I still hear it on the radio...unlike Butterflies :selena:

I generally don't like child singers and that applies to a lot of Michael's music too. I don't listen to much J5 or his first four albums. There's a few songs that are exceptions :diane: though I don't find myself listening to Off the Wall or Thriller much either. My favorites of his come from the 90's and 2000's. I like when his style started to move towards more urban-ish R&B, rock, and "mature" pop. Like, he shed off some of that innocence that made him adorable in the 70's and early 80's in favor of a new, sexy and adult vibe. His songs weren't about cute little walks to the candy store with the girl he was digging anymore; they were about love affairs, sex, and steamy late night encounters with women of the night :sis:

@PartySick There you said it! 90s MJ>80s

Although I think most people would disagree since Bad and Thriller are considered his best for most people I guess

It was close to be honest, but "Butterflies" was more stable only spending 3 of its 20 weeks below #50, whereas "You Rock My World" went up to Top 10 for a week and went down, spending 12 of its 20 weeks below #50. But i'm with you, it would make more sense that You Rock My World would've done better. Unfortunately his reputation (please don't sue Taylor) was so tarnished by this point that none of this singles had an opportunity to became big hits of 2001 and 2002. Thought "Butterflies was the 64th biggest hit of 2002, (on par with songs like "Praying" and "Now or Never" on 2017 year-end songs)
