"Immigration themed"

I'm so confused. Does she have any other songs about immigration? :duck:

Not really

I assume you’re referring to the “languagano” and “Jesus christo” lines? These are often misinterpreted as racist (I can see why), as they come across as mocking Latino accents etc. What the song is actually trying to do is make these common words sound alien, and twisted, hence the slight change on otherwise normal words, to highlight Gaga’s lack of understanding over America’s lack of acceptance to both immigrants and same-sex couples.

She doesn’t understand how people have twisted the figure of Jesus, who only preached love and acceptance, into this new figure “Jesus christo” who is used as an arugument against queer marriage etc. The same with America and “Americano” for immigration. It’s like she’s saying “this is not the America I know”. So it’s not racist :) but I do see how you could interpret it that way sadly.

That's not the lyrics though...

It's just 'language, oh no'.

As for the 'Jesus Christo', she speaks Spanish throughout the song and that is how 'Jesus Christ' is pronounced in Spanish.

The whole crowd in Stockholm stood up and danced to Americano so I would say yes. Out of the only immigration themed song she put out this is her best.

... jesucristo ?

Anyway, it's a fantastic song. Messy as hell, but really bold writing. I love it to this day. It's a really comical song, but it meant a lot to many of my friends. It's really empowering.
